This shows how out of touch the industry is - even the mouthpiece of the fresh produce industry says it is ok to call the tomato sauce on pizza a vegetable so they can pay lower taxes.

The commentator is absolutely right to call out this idiocy.

This really demonstrates where the interests of agri-business lie, whether they sell fresh produce or not.

That is just wrong - no one thinks pizza is a vegetable.

Just so wrong.   That pizza stuff is not a vegetable at all.

then i think ketchup qualifies as a vegetable too

Wasn't that what George H. W. Bush said?  Or was it Reagan that tried to reclassify ketchup as a vegetable so that it would seem school children were eating more nutritious fare.
