General healthy habits should help a lot:

  • Sleep 7-8 hours a night
  • Change your bedsheets at least once a week
  • Exercise, and wash your face immediately after exercising
  • Don't wash your face too much otherwise
  • Eat less sugar

People use "toners" to control oil production in skin pores.  Natural astringents like apple juice and lime juice may help your skin tighten up and produce less oil.  Just splash a mixture on your face for ten minutes and then wash off with lots of water.  You don't want to have a sticky face from all the sugar.

How about using a soap that's not as harsh and doesn't strip your skin of all its natural oils?

definitely stop using harsh things on your skin like alcohol

when your skin gets too dry, it trys to produce oil to compensate,

so maybe consider washing it less - counter intuitive i know
